One person was killed and seven others injured after armed assailants attacked a market in Mastung, Balochistan, while two police officers were gunned down in Lakki Marwat, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
As per details, armed individuals launched an assault on the main market in Balochistan’s Mastung district. Dawn News, quoting sources in the district administration, reported that the attack involved gunfire and explosions, resulting in one fatality and injuries to seven people.
The outlet further reported that the assailants also targeted three banks in Mastung and set multiple government vehicles and properties on fire. Following the incident, the market was closed.
In a separate development in Bannu district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, two suspected terrorists were killed during a joint operation by the police and the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD). Meanwhile, in Lakki Marwat, two traffic police officers en route to duty were martyred in an armed attack.
According to Regional Police Officer (RPO) Sajjad Khan, the police and CTD launched a joint operation against criminals in Domel tehsil. A firefight lasting over 20 minutes took place between the two sides.
The statement added, “Two terrorists were killed in the exchange of fire, while their accomplices managed to escape by taking advantage of the darkness and nearby bushes.”
The deceased terrorists were identified as Hussain Ahmed and Inam alias Toro, residents of Haider Khel in North Waziristan.
Meanwhile, in Lakki Marwat, unknown assailants opened fire on the Lungikhel Road, killing two motorcycle-riding traffic police personnel.
