As per the national and international media, India targeted multiple locations in Pakistan and Azad Kashmir under “Operation Sindoor” last night.
In Punjab, Bahawalpur, Muridke, Sialkot, and Barnala were targeted, while in Azad Kashmir, Muzaffarabad, Kotli, Gulpur, and Bagh were targeted.
As per international media, Indian officials have said their missile strikes targeted nine sites in both Pakistan and Azad Kashmir.
In response, Pakistan shot down five Indian Air Force jets and two drones in “self-defense,” claiming Rafale jets — sophisticated multi-role fighters made in France — were among those downed.
Pakistan confirmed India’s strikes martyred eight people, including children, and wounded 35 more. The Indian Army said three civilians in occupied Kashmir were killed in shelling by Pakistani troops from across the border.
Following Indian attacks, Pakistan implemented heightened security measures and suspended flight operations at several major airports early Wednesday.
Official sources confirmed that Islamabad International Airport was placed on red alert, with its airspace closed to all commercial flights. The sudden shutdown disrupted air travel, forcing at least three incoming flights to divert to alternative airports.
Among the affected flights were a Qatar Airways jet from Doha, a Saudi Arabian Airlines aircraft, and a private carrier, which were rerouted to Peshawar and other nearby locations as a safety precaution.
Authorities cited concerns over potential hostile action from India as the reason for the emergency measures. In Rawalpindi, residents reported Pakistan Air Force jets patrolling the skies, accompanied by loud aerial sounds.
Airports in Karachi, Lahore, Multan, Faisalabad, Skardu, and Peshawar were also placed on high alert, with emergency aviation protocols activated nationwide.
