PESHAWAR: The Peshawar district administration started a three-day anti-polio drive in fifteen districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Monday.
More than four million children below the age of five will be administered anti-polio drops during the campaign. The health officials said that the deputy commissioners had been directed to monitor the campaign.
The officials of the polio cell in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa said the districts include Peshawar, Charsadda, Mardan, Swabi, Nowshera, Buner, Torghar, Malakand, Swat, Kohat, Bannu, Lakki Marwat, Mohmand, Khyber and Bajaur.
Tight security arrangements have been made for the polio vaccination teams. Meanwhile, the officials have expressed satisfaction over the last campaigns and directed to continue with the same spirit for achieving a hundred percent result.
The menace of poliovirus persists in Pakistan with militant groups seeing vaccination campaigns as a cover for espionage.
