Onija Andrew Robinson, an American woman who was betrayed by her online lover from Karachi, has been taken into protective custody in Dubai.
According to Arab media, Onija arrived in Dubai on February 7, having traveled from Karachi on Emirates flight EK603. She was supposed to board flight EK203 to New York but did not take the flight. Entering Dubai with an on-arrival visa, her absence raised concerns among her family and officials in New York, who were expecting her arrival.
When she failed to reach her destination, U.S. authorities began searching for her. Videos of her wandering the streets of Dubai surfaced, prompting U.S. agencies to alert UAE authorities. As a result, her movements were restricted, and she was taken into custody.
Earlier, Robinson, a 33-year-old mother from New York, believed she had found love with 19-year-old Nidal Ahmed Memon, whom she met online. She traveled to Karachi, Pakistan, with the expectation of marrying him. However, his family refused to approve their relationship.

Robinson quickly gained public attention after holding press conferences and making controversial financial demands. She was later admitted to the psychiatry department at Karachi’s Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center for a mental health evaluation. A man identifying himself as her son described her as “mentally unstable” and stated that she has bipolar disorder.
