KARACHI: Renowned scholar Allama Nazir Abbas Taqvi is reported to have been arrested by Saudi authorities in Makkah after he had performed Umra. This was disclosed by Allam himself in a post on Twitter.

According to his own post appeared on social media, the additional Secretary of Shia Ulema Council was arrested in Makkah after he had performed Umrah. Allama Nazir hadn’t mention any reason for his arrest, however, his followers took to Twitter and alleged that he was arrested for for raising the flag of Amir-ul-Momineen Ali Murtaza (R.A.) at Khana-e-Ka’aba.
Allama Nazir’s supporters and followers have urged upon the federal authorities in Islamabad, including the Foreign Office, to use their good office and ensure his release from Saudi detention.
