Bollywood actress Sonakshi Sinha is tying the knot with her Muslim boyfriend actor Zaheer Iqbal today. The couple is set to exchange vows in a private ceremony attended only by close family and friends.
Pre-Wedding Festivities:
The celebrations kicked off on June 20 with a Haldi and Mehendi ceremony at Sonakshi’s Bandra home. While her parents, Shatrughan Sinha and Poonam Sinha, were not present at the initial ceremony, they later joined the bride and groom at home. Despite initial rumors suggesting Shatrughan’s disapproval, he confirmed his support for the union, stating he would definitely attend the wedding.
Pooja Ceremony:
As per Hindustan Times ahead of her wedding with Zaheer Iqbal, actor Sonakshi Sinha and her family conducted a pooja ceremony at Ramayana, her family house in Mumbai. Several pictures and videos of the bride-to-be and her parents – veteran actors Shatrughan Sinha and Poonam Sinha – emerged on social media platforms.
In a clip, Sonakshi Sinha was seen wearing a navy blue suit and light blue dupatta as she followed her mother towards a room. She tied her hair into a sleek bun. In another video, Poonam sat with a woman as she was seen performing rituals. However, the paparazzi were heard shouting and screaming thus interrupting the pooja ceremony.
The Wedding Day:
On her wedding day, Sonakshi was spotted at her father’s house, Ramayan, preparing for the big event. The wedding ceremony itself will be a registered marriage held at Sonakshi’s apartment in Bandra. Following the official proceedings, Sonakshi and Zaheer will host a wedding party at Bastian, a popular celebrity haunt in Mumbai.
Celebrations and Attendees:
The pre-wedding festivities saw numerous celebrities in attendance. Sonakshi’s best friend, Yo Yo Honey Singh, was spotted in Mumbai, gearing up for the wedding party. However, her brothers, Luv and Kush, were notably absent from the celebrations.
Zaheer Iqbal’s Visit to Mosque:
Zaheer Iqbal was seen visiting a mosque in Mumbai on Sunday ahead of the wedding, adding a personal touch to the day’s events.
Family and Friends:
Shatrughan Sinha, despite earlier comments about being “waiting to be informed” about the wedding, expressed his happiness and full support for Sonakshi’s choice. “Her happiness is my happiness,” he told Zoom, dismissing any rumors of family discord. The couple has received blessings from their families, with Shatrughan’s brothers traveling from America to join the celebrations.
