Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has announced a significant increase in financial assistance for individuals with special needs under the Himmat Card scheme. The aid amount has been raised from Rs 75,000 to Rs 100,000 for the 65,000 eligible beneficiaries.
During a ceremony on Wednesday, Nawaz revealed that the Himmat Card scheme will be rolled out in phases.
Eligibility Criteria:
To qualify for a Himmat Card, applicants must hold a special persons certificate issued by their district or tehsil office. Financial assistance will be deposited into eligible individuals’ accounts every three months. However, those already receiving financial support from other government programs, including the Benazir Income Support Program, will not be eligible for this scheme.
Banking Details:
The Bank of Punjab (BoP) will act as the financial service provider for the scheme, handling transactions amounting to Rs 80.17 million. The Social Welfare Bank of Punjab will provide the necessary data for the beneficiaries. It is important to withdraw the funds within 180 days of the transfer; otherwise, the money will be returned.
The Planning and Development (P&D) Department has allocated Rs 658.1 million for the successful implementation of the project.
