Tomorrow marks a pivotal day for aspiring medical and dental students as the Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT) for 2024 is set to take place on September 22. This nationwide exam will be conducted in 30 cities across Pakistan and at two international centers, drawing participation from over 167,000 candidates.
The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) prioritizes transparency and integrity throughout the examination process. The PMDC President has confirmed that stringent monitoring will be in place, with Section 144 enforced at all exam venues. Any breaches of this order will lead to immediate legal consequences.
To uphold the exam’s integrity, advanced surveillance technology will be deployed at all centers. Candidates have been cautioned against unethical practices such as cheating, which could result in severe penalties. Special investigative teams and a dedicated monitoring system are set to ensure fairness during the exam.
The President of PMDC reiterated the commitment to act decisively against any attempts at corruption or malpractice. A significant number of students have registered for this year’s exam: 58,380 from Punjab, 38,678 from Sindh, 42,329 from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 5,806 from Balochistan, 18,408 from Islamabad, 3,145 from Azad Kashmir, and 739 from Gilgit-Baltistan. Additionally, 259 international students will be participating.
Local institutions are mobilizing resources to accommodate the test-takers, with Shahid Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Medical University overseeing 33 exam centers, the University of Health Sciences (UHS) managing 26 centers, Khyber Medical University (KMU) setting up 13 centers, and Dow University organizing 6 centers.
As MDCAT remains a critical gateway for those seeking to enter the medical and dental fields, the PMDC is determined to ensure a smooth, fair, and transparent examination process for all candidates.
