All prisoners be released if Maryam departs without plea bargain: Fawad

ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for science and technology Fawad Chaudhry on Wednesday has said that the departure of Maryam Nawaz from Pakistan without plea bargain would be the last nail in the coffin of the accountability narrative.

In a message posted on Twitter, Fawad Chaudhry wrote that the exit of former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif from Pakistan had already harmed the accountability narrative while the National Accountability Bureau’s ineffective investigation and subsequent court relief had also weakened the accountability narrative.

In this situation, he said, the departure of Maryam Nawaz from Pakistan will serve as the last nail in the coffin of the accountability system, “If she leaves without a plea bargain, we should open the doors in all the prisons in Pakistan,” he added.

Earlier on Wednesday, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Shehbaz Sharif said that the health situation of Nawaz Sharif remains serious and that they have to defer medical procedures twice because of the absence of Maryam Nawaz.

The PML-N president said that Maryam Nawaz was supposed to be with Nawaz Sharif at that moment, but she is not allowed to travel abroad to see her father. He claimed that Nawaz’s doctors twice postponed cardiac procedures due to Maryam’s absence.
