KARACHI: Governor Sindh Imran Ismail on Monday stressed upon the need for all political parties to work jointly to fight the coronavirus pandemic.
He said this while chairing a meeting of party leaders to review precautionary steps to prevent a COVID-19 outbreak and assess the overall political situation in the province.
The meeting also discussed the process to distribute ration among the deserving families and progress made towards federal funded uplift projects.
The governor said all political parties should work together during the testing time, adding that they were giving necessary food items to poor families through different welfare organizations in Sindh.
Imran Ismail said that they have set a target to distribute ration among 50,000 families and currently they have disbursed it among 7000 needy people.
He appreciated the doctors and paramedics and said they were the front-line soldiers in the fight against COVID-19, adding that whatever they were demanding for their safety should be given to them.
Earlier, Imran has received five trucks containing 3,000 ration bags donated by the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and the Karachi Port Trust (KPT) for the poor people effected by the lockdown.
Imran Ismail also said that 120,000 youngsters have been registered in the Corona Relief Tiger Force from the Sindh province alone.
