Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur has been removed as President of PTI Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, with Member of National Assembly (MNA) Junaid Akbar appointed as his successor. PTI leader Salman Akram Raja confirmed the change, explaining that it was decided during a meeting between Junaid Akbar and Imran Khan in jail.
Raja also mentioned that PTI’s former MNA Alia Hamza may receive an important role in Punjab. He reiterated that PTI would review the situation regarding the government’s proposed meeting with the negotiation committee on January 28.
Meanwhile, Junaid Akbar was elected unopposed as Chairman of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) with the support of both the government and opposition. He expressed gratitude for the trust placed in him and pledged to perform his duties effectively, despite lacking prior PAC experience.
The government and PTI had initially debated the nomination, but both parties agreed on Junaid Akbar’s name. PTI had also proposed a new panel, removing Sheikh Waqas Akram’s name, but eventually backed Akbar for the role.
Earlier, PTI founder Imran Khan had firmly supported Sheikh Waqas Akram for PAC Chairman, leading to speculation and internal discussions before the final agreement on Akbar’s nomination.
