A disturbing rise in violence against women and children has been recorded in the first three months of 2025, with police data revealing hundreds of cases of abductions, sexual assault, and murder across the country.
According to statistics compiled by the police department, from January 1 to March 31, a total of 27 women were murdered, while 151 cases of rape were registered. In these rape cases, 110 suspects were arrested, while 41 remain at large.
The data also shows that 1,182 women were kidnapped during this period, of whom 988 have been recovered, while 194 are still missing.
Children have also been the target of heinous crimes, with 138 cases of child abduction reported. Fourteen children remain missing, despite ongoing recovery efforts. Additionally, 47 cases of child sexual assault were recorded, leading to the arrest of 44 suspects, while three are still on the run.
Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Faisal Kamran emphasized a policy of zero tolerance for crimes against women and children. He stated that the majority of cases have been resolved, and law enforcement is making continuous efforts to bring the remaining perpetrators to justice.
