MUZAFFARABAD: The local police of Azad Kashmir on Thursday started baton charging workers of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) who were staging protest against the disqualification of former prime minister Tanveer Ilyas.
According to reports gathered by MM News, the PTI workers gathered at the main road in front of AJK Supreme Court and High Court, and started chanting slogans against the disqualification of Sardar Tanveer Ilyas.
The Azad Kashmir High Court on Tuesday had disqualified Sardar Tanveer Ilyas, the then Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, in contempt case.
While giving the remarks of the High Court, it was said that the Prime Minister of Azad Kashmir Sardar Tanveer Ilyas has been guilty of contempt of court. He is disqualified from holding any official post including Prime Minister.
In an apparent attempt to disperse the PTI protesters and clear the road, local police resorted to baton charge the crowd, injuring several people on the spot, including some of the passers by.
