In a significant development for international travel, AirAsia X, the budget airline of Malaysia, has officially launched its operations in Pakistan, marking a major milestone in enhancing travel connectivity between the two countries.
The airline’s first-ever direct flights from Karachi to Kuala Lumpur will commence on May 30, offering convenient and affordable travel options for both business and leisure passengers. The announcement was made at a grand inaugural ceremony held at a local hotel in Karachi, attended by key dignitaries, including Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori, Sindh Energy Minister Nasir Hussain Shah, and Malaysian Consul General Herman Hardinata Ahmed.
During the event, Governor Tessori warmly welcomed the launch of the new route, emphasizing its potential to strengthen Pakistan-Malaysia relations. “This new connectivity will not only enhance people-to-people ties but also unlock new opportunities for business, trade, and tourism between the two nations,” he said.
AirAsia X CEO Benjamin Ismail announced that the airline will operate four round-trip flights per week — on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays — between Karachi and Kuala Lumpur. As an introductory offer, one-way ticket prices will start at Rs55,800, with a 20% discount on early bookings available.
The airline is targeting to serve over 100,000 passengers annually through its new Pakistan operations. With a focus on offering affordable air travel, AirAsia X aims to provide a seamless experience for passengers while also contributing to the growth of the tourism and business sectors.
The new route is set to further enhance bilateral ties between Pakistan and Malaysia, offering exciting prospects for trade, tourism, and cultural exchange.
