Pakistani singer Aima Baig is facing backlash after performing at a music event in Jeddah during her Umrah pilgrimage.
The city of Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, hosted a Pakistan-Indonesia Music Night as part of the ‘Jeddah Season,’ attracting thousands of attendees. The event featured performances by Aima Baig, Bilal Saeed, the Sonu Dance Group, and Indonesia’s top singer, Lady Rara. Actor Kashif Khan and his TikToker daughter Rabica Khan were also in attendance.
Aima Baig had earlier informed her Instagram followers that she was traveling abroad, which led to speculation about her leaving the country and quitting music. She later clarified that the trip was work-related.
Despite the clarification, videos of her performance at the event, where she sang popular tracks like “Kaif o Suroor” and “Mast Malang,” have gone viral on social media. In addition to her performance, Aima Baig also shared pictures of her Umrah pilgrimage on her Instagram story.
The juxtaposition of her religious pilgrimage and her participation in a musical event has drawn significant criticism from social media users, who have expressed disapproval over the perceived clash between her religious and professional activities.
