Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates has said that AI is developing very rapidly, and if this continues, it will become difficult for humans to adapt to the circumstances.
During an interview, he said that AI will bring about many improvements, and people will be able to make time for more meaningful work, but right now all of this is happening very quickly.
He said, “When productivity improves, it doesn’t mean that low productivity is a bad thing. However, improved productivity will benefit people—they will be able to take more time off for vacations or do other tasks. But the question is, if all of this happens too fast, you won’t have time to adapt to the circumstances.”
Bill Gates’ statement comes at a time when concerns are being raised due to the rapid spread of AI tools, suggesting that many people could lose their jobs.
Bill Gates said that when robotic hands become more advanced, a larger number of people’s jobs could be affected. There is a difference between AI and Artificial General Intelligence (AGI). AGI will be achieved when AI tools become capable of performing tasks better than humans.
He further stated that the speed at which AI technology is improving has surprised him, especially new features like Deep Research are astonishing.
He said, “Earlier I had an advantage—I had very intelligent people around me whom I could call when I was confused about a topic like physics. But now I use Deep Research and then send its answers to my intelligent friends and ask them, ‘Was it correct?’ Most of my friends say yes, it is correct.”
