Mohit Suri’s romantic drama film Saiyaara, starring Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda, has achieved significant success, crossing the Rs100 crore mark and paving the way to surpass several major films in this elite club. The film even outperformed Salman Khan’s Sikandar, which had earned Rs134.93 crore.
According to Indian media, Saiyaara has become a serious threat to films of superstars like Salman Khan and Akshay Kumar. On its fifth day, which was the first Tuesday, Saiyaara showed a slight improvement over the previous day (Monday). The film earned Rs25 crore on Tuesday, a minor increase from Monday’s Rs24 crore.
However, this was a drop from Sunday (the third day), when it earned Rs35.75 crore, a significant rise from Saturday’s Rs26 crore, which itself was an increase over its historic opening day collection of Rs21.5 crore.
Indian media stated that after five days, Saiyaara’s current box office collection in India stands at Rs132.25 crore. In this process, Saiyaara has not only become a rare film with new actors to enter the Rs100 crore club but also surpassed Sikandar, and has now set its sights on beating Akshay Kumar’s Sky Force, which had earned Rs134.93 crore.
It is expected that Saiyaara will surpass Sky Force today. Given its current momentum, the film could challenge other members of the Rs100 crore club this year, including Aamir Khan’s Taare Zameen Par (Rs164.74 crore), Ajay Devgn’s Raid 2 (Rs179.30 crore), and Akshay Kumar’s Housefull 5 (Rs198.41 crore).
Yash Raj Films has requested exhibitors not to raise ticket prices in a way that makes the film less accessible to the youth audience, who are actively supporting it and contributing to its box office growth. Interestingly, the decision for lead actors Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda not to participate in the film’s promotions was made by the production house, not by the actors themselves.
