KABUL: The Taliban-led Afghan interim government has announced arresting prime suspect involved in attack on Pakistan’s Embassy in Kabul in which a security guard was critically injured.

The development came three days when on Friday, the head of Pak mission Ubaid Nizamani escaped the assassination bid when embassy’s compound in Kabul came under attack. However, a security guard, Sepoy Israr Mohammad, was injured in the attack while protecting the diplomat. Israr had immediately been shifted to Pakistan.

Taking to Twitter, Taliban’s spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid said the arrested figure was a foreigner and a member of terrorist group Daesh.

The statement came just a day after Daesh claimed responsibility for attack on Pakistan’s embassy in Kabul. Earlier reports suggested that the prime suspect had been arrested the eighth floor of the nearby building in Kabul. Afghan security forces had also recovered an AK-47 rifle, a long-range automatic rifle, a sniper rifle and other weapons from the possession of the suspect.
