ISLAMABAD: Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Political Communication Shahbaz Gill has slammed former prime minister Nawaz Sharif for meeting Afghan National Security Adviser in London.

In a statement, the spokesman said the meeting and ‘keen interest’ with a person who has vilified and abused Pakistan shows the former prime minister’s agenda. He claimed that the Afghan official brought a message from Indian Prime Minister Modi.

He added the upcoming elections in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) will be shown as controversial so that the elections in Indian-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IOJK) could be shown as under the same circumstances.

He is Kashmir is our jugular vein and the nation army forces are its sworn protectors. He warned those spewing venom poison against the Pakistan army and said they will not allow anyone to play with the sentiments of Kashmiris once again.

Former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif met Afghan National Security Adviser (NSA) in London and discussed regional security and stability. “Dr Hamdullah Mohib, national security advisor or Afghanistan and State Minister for Peace Sayed Sadat Naderi called on Former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in London to discuss matters of mutual interest,” said a statement by the Afghan official.

It added that they “agreed that both nations’ interests are served by a policy of mutual respect and non-interference in each other’s internal affairs. They emphasized that strengthening democracy in both countries can put both nations on a path to stability and prosperity, opening the region to connectivity and commerce.”

The Afghan official expressed support for “democratic struggle in Pakistan” while former prime minister Nawaz Sharif said a “strong and stable Afghanistan is good for Pakistan and the region.”

Qureshi slams Afghan NSA

Last month, Foreign Minister Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Hussain Qureshi slammed  Afghan National Security Adviser Hamdullah Mohib for his incendiary comments against Pakistan.

Qureshi called on him to “reflect and correct” his behaviour as he was a “spoiler” for peace in Afghanistan. “The national security adviser of Afghanistan carefully listen. No Pakistani will shake your hand or talk with you if you don’t desist from the kind of language you are using against Pakistan,” Qureshi warned.

Qureshi said Pakistan had suffered a “huge cost” in terms of lives lost and financial consequences from terrorism, adding that Pakistan was only concerned with peace and stability in the region. “You should be ashamed and you should be guilty at your words and my blood is boiling ever since your speech in Nangarhar. Correct your behaviour and reflect on it,” he added.

He added that the Afghan NSA was creating obstacles on Afghanistan’s road towards peace and trying to worsen the situation instead of improving it. He said that international community must ask him to stop creating hurdles in restoration of peace in Afghanistan as the Afghan national security advisor was playing the role of spoiler.

He warned the National Security Advisor of Afghanistan from continuing statements against Pakistan and said the international community must ask him to stop creating hurdles in peace restoration

The foreign minister was responding to comments made by the Afghan national security adviser during a visit to Nangarhar province earlier in May. His remarks outraged leaders in Islamabad who denounced him. Pakistan reportedly lodged a strong protest with the Afghan side and conveyed deep resentment over the undignified remarks.
