RAWALPINDI: The management committee of the Airport Employees Cooperative Housing Society (AECHS) in Rawalpindi has been dissolved over misuse of power and corruption allegations.
Circle Registrar Housing Cooperative Societies took action and dissolved the committee over misuse of power, violation of code of conduct, unlawful authority and corruption complaints.
A three-member committee has been formed to look after the matters comprising of Circle Registrar Attock Zeeshan Hafeez Munir, Assistant Registrar Pindigheb Khalid Umar, and Assistant Registrar Rawalpindi Sarfaraz Ahmed. The committee has been granted 90 days to hold fresh elections and hand over power to the next management.
Complaints were received against AECHS President Saadullah Khan Bangash, Secretary Javed Akhter Khan, Treasurer Muzzaffar Tirmizi as well as other members of the management committee for misuse of power, illegal use of authority and corruption.
Deputy Registrar Housing Cooperative Societies conducted an investigation which proved the allegations against the management committee. It said the management was also given an opportunity to defend the allegations but instead a petition was filed in court and no satisfactory answer was received.
It has been reported that the president and vice-president of the new committee held extensive talks with other members of the committee. The factions opposed to the now-dissolved management committee have hailed the decision and have decided to release a white paper about the financial irregularities in the housing society.
AECHS President Saadullah Khan Bangash could not be contacted to comment on the issue, while Treasurer Muzzaffar Tirmizi said a decision had to be made as the members wanted to expose the management committee.
