ISLAMABAD: Accountability court has postponed the hearing of the Toshakhana reference filed against former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif till 9th September.
Accountability Court Judge Syed Ali will conduct the hearing of the case filed against the former prime minister. Nawaz Sharif had taken a stand in his petition that he did not flee but went abroad on bail. He is undergoing treatment abroad so he should be allowed to face trial through a representative.
The petition added that the accountability court had issued bailable arrest warrants on 29th May and non-bailable arrest warrants on 11th June, while the accountability court had initiated proceedings on 30th June to declare the accused admissible.
Nawaz Sharif is accused of getting a car from Toshakhana during the previous PPP government and Anwar Majeed paid for it with a fake bank account. According to the reference filed by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in the accountability court, Yousuf Raza Gilani was illegally allotted vehicles to PPP co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari and PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif.
According to the report submitted by NAB to the sub-court, Asif Zardari, who is also an accused in the same case, paid 15 percent of the vehicles as a gift. The vehicles were gifted to Asif Zardari from Brewer Liber and UAE. According to the NAB, the accused used Tosha Khan instead of submitting the mead.
