Dania Shah, the widow of late politician and TV anchor Dr. Aamir Liaquat Hussain, has remarried, tying the knot with her lawyer Shahzad Hakeem. The newlywed couple confirmed their marriage in a video statement released on Tuesday.
In the video, Dania Shah revealed that the marriage occurred a few months ago due to personal reasons and the need for a Mehram (male guardian). Shahzad Hakeem also confirmed the union, stating that they had married two to three months prior.
Earlier this year, in May, Dania Shah publicly announced that she had hired Shahzad Hakeem as her lawyer to claim her share of Dr. Aamir Liaquat’s inheritance for a fee of Rs 200 million. The professional relationship has now transitioned into a marital one.
Dr. Aamir Liaquat married Dania Shah on February 10, 2022. However, their relationship quickly deteriorated, and within three months, Dania announced her intention to seek a divorce, citing “abuse and mistreatment” as the reasons. An objectionable video featuring Dr. Liaquat in a state of undress was allegedly leaked by Dania during this period.
Dr. Liaquat was found unconscious at his residence on June 5, 2022, and was pronounced dead at Aga Khan University Hospital. Following his death, Dania Shah was arrested by the FIA in Lodhran on suspicion of leaking the indecent video. She was later granted bail by the Sindh High Court in February 2023.
