Famous designer Ali Xeeshan has been accused of plagiarism by an artist named Ayesha Shaikh for copying the thesis project she did in 2018.
In her Instagram post, Ayesha Shaikh expressed her uncertain feelings over whether she should be infuriated or feel proud about her artwork being plagiarised by the fashion designer. According to Shaikh, she started working on the concepts of body shaming and self-love back in 2018 for her thesis project where she developed sculptures portraying her personal experiences.
“I displayed the final results Indus Valley School‘s 2019 thesis show, and later on Koel Gallery ‘s Collective Cohesion 2020,” she claimed. It was few days ago when few of her friends from art school, who had been part of Ayesha’s journey, sent her posts of Ali Xeeshan’s theater studio ‘s art show in March 2022.

“I thought it to be a mere coincidence at first, but the messages kept coming in, from viewers of my art shows as well, which made me realise that the resemblance was uncanny! In not one, but several of his artworks he had displayed at his show!,” ranted Shaikh.

She went on to say, “The last straw was when one of my colleagues tried convincing me to take action by trying to show me Ali Xeeshan’s theater studio‘s IG posts again but found them to be removed! That’s when I was completely convinced something to be fishy!”
Ayesha expressed that her feelings about this whole thing are a mix right now, but one thing she is sure about is that we need to spread more awareness within the artist community, for things like this to not be overlooked. She also urged that one should take action against anyone who tries to take advantage of any of our fellow emerging artists, by plagiarising their work or not giving them credit for it.
According to Ayesha, it is pathetic to see such recognised talent, representing our country, to be downright plagiarising works of upcoming artists.
