MUMBAI: Khatija Rehman, daughter of A.R. Rahman have given a befitting reply to an Indian writer Taslima Nasreen over her choice of wearing a veil at events.
It recently happened when Taslima Nasreen posted a picture of Khatija Rehman on Twitter in a veil and wrote, “I absolutely love A R Rahman’s music. But whenever I see his dear daughter, I feel suffocated.”
She further wrote, “It is really depressing to learn that even educated women in a cultural family can get brainwashed very easily!”
To which, Khatija gave a befitting response to her tweet by posting it with a message on her Instagram, Khatija wrote that there’s so much happening in the country and all people were concerned about was the piece of attire a woman wants to wear.”
“Dear Taslima Nasreen, I’m sorry you feel suffocated by my attire. Please get some fresh air, cause I don’t feel suffocated rather I’m proud and empowered for what I stand for.”
This is not the first time Khatija Rehman has been criticised on social media over wearing a veil and covering her face.
