LAHORE: The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) claimed to have killed three suspected militants during a raid in Lahore’s Ferozewala district on Sunday.
“The militants were staying at a rented house in Ferozewala where they were planning to conduct attacks on intelligence agencies and law enforcement personnel”, said the CTD spokesperson.
As soon as the CTD arrived at the house, the militants opened fire, said the spokesperson of the force, adding that retaliatory fire from the CTD killed three militants.
The CTD spokesperson said that the slain militants were affiliated with an outlawed organization in Afghanistan. Their bodies were transported to Lahore’s Civil Hospital for postmortem examination.
The security force also recovered a a suicide vest, three hand grenades and two Kalashnikov rifles from the possession of the suspected militants. A case has been registered in this regard, while further investigation was underway.
A day earlier, a former leader of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), Fatima Musafir alias Waderi, was gunned down in Karachi. Police said the firing incident took place in New Karachi’s Khamiso Goth.
Unidentified armed men on a motorcycle opened fire at her near her residence and sped away. Her body was shifted to a nearby medical facility for medico-legal formalities. On getting information, a police team reached the crime scene and cordoned it off.
