LAHORE: A blind female scholar, Ayesha Saleem Kopi has set an example for all struggling females by completing a Ph.D. degree in Social Sciences at the University of Management and Technology (UMT) Lahore.
Ayesha has proven that disability cannot become a barrier to success if one is courageous enough to pursue one’s dreams. She lost sight at the age of three months; however, she did not let this imparity hold her back and pursued higher studies.
After completing early education she obtained a Master’s and MPhil Degrees in Social Sciences before successfully defending a Ph.D. thesis titled “Challenges and Needs of Novice Public School Teachers on Elementary Level Classroom Management in Lahore.” This is one of its kind of research in the field of education in Pakistan that has been highly praised.
Ayesha Saleem Kopi is the first visually-impaired scholar of UMT who has completed her Ph.D. in Education. She has completed her dissertation under the supervision of Rector UMT, Dr. Muhammad Aslam, and supervisors, Dr. Sajid Masood and Dr. Yar Muhammad.
Indeed, her grit and single-minded devotion have much to teach the people who have sight but wallow in self-pity. She can be a symbol of self-reliance to anyone who believes in the dignity and is willing to do hard work.
