BAHAWALPUR: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) vice-president Maryam Nawaz once again lashed out at the PTI government, saying that the day the lawmakers of Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) resign, would be the government’s last day.
Leaders of the 11-party opposition alliance, which aims to send Prime Minister Imran Khan’s government packing, gathered in Bahawalpur today (Sunday) for the alliance’s latest power show.
Maryam Nawaz, JUI-F Amir, and PDM head Maulana Fazlur Rehman and other leaders of the alliance arrived at the venue, Seraiki Chowk, to address the rally being hosted by PML-N.
“You know whose legs shake when Punjab rises? Establishment, selectors and selected all are watching that Punjab has risen,” Maryam Nawaz said while addressing a huge crowd in Bahawalpur rally, hosted by the PML-N.
She further said, “Bahawalpur has given its verdict; this government’s days are numbered. So should we keep sitting in these sham assemblies or resign?” she asked the crowd, who largely responded with “resign!”
“What will happen if I turn these participants to Islamabad? The puppet prime minister will have no place to hide,” Maryam asserted, adding, “Remember, this government will be finished the day PDM tenders resignations.”
Although PDM constituent parties claim to have received the resignations of all opposition lawmakers in the national and provincial assemblies, the alliance has not yet decided about handing in the resignations formally.
Lashing out at the government over inflation, Maryam added that during Nawaz Sharif’s tenure, price of wheat was Rs35 which is now available at Rs90, adding that the price of sugar has also gone up to Rs120 from Rs50.
“IMF has said electricity tariffs must be increased by 25 percent,” she said, adding that the government must be sent packing as soon as possible to protect the livelihood of poor people.
