RAWALPINDI: In the wake of COVID-19, Rawalpindi Cantonment Board (RCB) has closed four more schools and decided to integrate students in remote areas’ schools.
Sources said RCB had closed four schools in Allama Iqbal Colony, Azizabad Chowk, Bakra Mandi and Kamalabad areas under the guise of COVID-19.
Sources further said the administration has asked the children and staff of these four schools to report to Siham Bani Stop School. “While the distance of Saham Bani Stop School is more than 10 kilometers from the closed schools”, sources added.
There are more than 300 children in each school. Parents of the children said that the administration of the schools was deliberately taken the decision. “We cannot send our children to schools situated 10 kilometers from the residents,” they added.
Sources added that the cantonment board had earlier decided to shift the four schools, but the parents rejected the decision. The decision to shifting the schools is causing uneasiness in the children as well as parents, sources said.
The parents of the children appealed to the Station Commander of the Cantonment Board to allow the schools to remain in their areas for the sake of children’s future.
