ISLAMABAD: Federal Information and Broadcasting Minister Shibli Faraz has demanded an apology from the opposition over the ‘irresponsible’ statement of former National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq regarding Indian Pilot Abhinandan.
“Ayaz Sadiq should apologise on floor of the parliament for his irresponsible statement to appease India,” Shibli said, while addressing a press conference in Islamabad today (Thursday).
The federal minister further said that PML-N leader Ayaz Sadiq’s controversial statement was much celebrated in the Indian media.
Referring to February 27 incident, Shibli Faraz said that it was a great day in Pakistan’s history, when India’s so-called military might was badly exposed at the hands of Pakistani heroes.
“Prime Minister Imran Khan decided to release the Abhinandan as a response from a responsible state, because neither Pakistan nor India can afford war,” he said, adding that the decision was release Abhinandan got worldwide acclaim.
Commenting on the opposition, Shibli, regretfully, said that the opposition was making national pride controversial and trying to portray country’s victory as defeat.
The opposition is criticizing state institutions to protect their personal interests and to win some concessions for their corrupt leadership,” he said adding that the oppositions’ prime objective was to create chaos and sabotage economic stability.
