ISLAMABAD: At least nine more deaths have been reported from coronavirus in Pakistan and the total number of deaths due to the epidemic has reached 6,736.
As per details, Pakistan has reported nine deaths during the last 24 hours by novel COVID-19 as the number of positive cases has surged to 327,895. The nationwide tally of fatalities has jumped to 6,736, on Sunday.
According to the latest figures by the National Command and Operation Center (NCOC), 832 persons have been tested positive for COVID-19 in 24 hours.
Sindh remains the worst-hit province by the pandemic in terms of cases followed by Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Islamabad.
To date, 143,526 COVID-19 cases have been reported in Sindh, 102,677 in Punjab, 39,015 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 18,921 in Islamabad, 15,801 in Balochistan, 3,788 in Azad Kashmir and 4,167 in Gilgit-Baltistan.
Moreover, 2,598 patients have lost their lives to the epidemic in Sindh, 2,335 in Punjab, 1,269 in KP, 148 in Balochistan, 210 in Islamabad, 90 in GB and 86 in Azad Kashmir.
Pakistan has so far conducted 4,264,053 COVID-19 tests and 28,724 in the last 24 hours. 310,491 COVID-19 patients have recovered in the country whereas 562 patients are in critical condition.
On Friday, the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) had noted an increase in the country’s positivity rate, virus-related deaths and hospital admissions. During a session of the forum, health officials presented data on the country’s Covid outbreak.
The forum noted that the positivity ratio had risen for the fifth consecutive day, a statement issued by the NCOC had said. The average positivity rate is 40 percent higher during the last four days, the statement said, adding that deaths were also increasing.
“It was also noted that Muzaffarabad, Hyderabad, Karachi and Gilgit-Baltistan have a higher positivity ratio along with other areas across the country.”
Hospital admissions are also on the increase particularly in Punjab, the forum was told. There is also an increase in the number of critical patients at hospitals, the statement had said.
