KARACHI: Veteran PPP leader and Special Assistant to Chief Minister on Political Affairs Rashid Rabbani passed away in Karachi today (Thursday) after suffering from COVID-19.
According to details, Rashid Rabbani was on a ventilator for the past few days after suffering from severe symptoms of the virus. Soon after news of his death broke, condolences began to pour in.
Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah has expressed grief over the sad demise of his provincial cabinet member and said that he was among the close aides of the PPP leader Benazir Bhutto. “His services for the democracy will be remembered forever,” CM Murad said.
PPP co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari also extended his condolences over Rabbani’s passing, saying that he was a huge asset to the party. Asif Zardari said that Rabbani’s death has saddened the entire party.
Meanwhile, PPP Senator Sherry Rehman said that she was devastated to hear of Rabbani’s passing and remembered him as a colleague, comrade, and friend.
