LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) has adjourned the hearing of the petition filed over making sugar, wheat inquiry reports public till 7th July.
The LHC sought a reply from the Punjab government and the federal government on a petition filed over making sugar, wheat inquiry reports public.
Soon as the hearing started, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) submitted a reply in the court over the investigation into sugar, wheat scandal.
Moreover, a reply from the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) was also summoned to reply over the same issue. The court directed SECP to submit a progress report in the next hearing that is scheduled in July.
The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) was earlier asked to investigate the sugar subsidy issue and it had submitted a report, which was made public by Prime Minister Imran Khan, last month.
Moreover, the Islamabad High Court (IHC) on 20th June allowed the government agencies to take action against the sugar barons responsible for the shortage of the commodity earlier this year and dismissed a petition requesting the court to stop a crackdown started on basis of the inquiry report.
