PESHAWAR: The Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has allocated on Monday around Rs17 billion for the construction of Chitral-Shandur road.
The provincial government’s spokesperson has said on Monday that building of one-hundred and the fifty-kilometer-long road would help to promote tourism in the country, Radio Pakistan reported.
The spokesperson added that this initiative will also help in generating employment opportunities for the youth especially the residents of Chitral and Gilgit-Baltistan.
Last week, the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mahmood Khan had inaugurated the reconstruction of 4.2-megawatt Reshun hydel power project in Chitral district.
The provincial head also made a series of announcements for the Chitral district after inaugurating the reconstruction work of Reshun hydel power project which was devastated in 2015 flood.
CM Khan said that the initiative will be completed with an estimated cost of Rs 806 million by June 2020. It will be beneficial for approximately 16,000 local residents, reported APP.
While he was addressing in the event, CM Khan said that the issues of Chitrali people are known to him, he is aware of the problems that the people from Chitral are facing. He said the people of Chitral are suffering the severe outcomes of corruption made by previous rulers and it will be held accountable by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) led government at any cost.
