ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Information Senator Shibli Faraz has appreciated the initiative of the Chainstore Association of Pakistan (CAP) to distribute five million face masks among the people in the country.
According to details, Shibli Faraz while launching the “Mask4All Campaign” said this initiative was a good example of public-private partnership.
He said under this initiative the Chainstore Association would distribute five million face masks in collaboration with the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.
The minister further said that adopting protective measures was the best possible way of protection against the COVID-19 epidemic and the most effective antidote was the use of face mask, especially at the places where public interaction takes place, he added.
He urged the citizens to strictly follow the Standard Operating Procedures issued by the government. Everyone must join hands to defeat this epidemic, he said.
The nationwide tally of COVID-19 patients in Pakistan stands at 30,341 with 667 deaths after the country reported new cases in the last 24 hours.
According to the National Command and Control Center (NCOC), more than 476 cases of coronavirus were reported while 28 people succumbed to the disease in the last 24 hours.
As many as 8,212 patients have recovered from the disease, while 153 are said to be critical as the country is still witnessing a consistent rise in the COVID-19 cases.
According to the National Command and Operation Centre, a total of 11,480 cases were reported in Sindh, 11,568 in Punjab, 4,669 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 2,017 in Balochistan, 679 in Islamabad, 442 in Gilgit-Baltistan, and 86 in Azad Kashmir.
Out of a total of 667 deaths, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has reported 245, Sindh 189, Balochistan 26, Gilgit-Baltistan 04, Punjab 197, and Islamabad Capital Territory has reported 06 deaths.
