COVID-19 cases soar to 3,053 in Sindh

KARACHI: Sindh government health authorities have reported 289 fresh cases of novel COVID-19 in the province taking the total number of patients in the province to 3,053.

Sindh government spokesperson, Murtaza Wahab in a Tweet said that provincial health authorities conducted 2,191 tests of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours, out of which 289 comes positive.

He further said “In the last 24 hours, five more people have died from COVID-19 in Sindh.”

According to the spokesperson, the death toll by coronavirus in Sindh has reached to 66, while 665 patients have recovered from the disease. The province has overall conducted 28,249 tests, Wahab further said.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah reached Larkana today, to review the measures being taken to limit the spread of the COVID-19 in the district.

The Chief Minister chaired a meeting and reviewed the prevailing situation after the detection of coronavirus cases in Larkana.

On Monday, three localities, Nawan Mohallah, Darri and Bakrani were completely sealed by the district administration after confirmation of 14 COVID-19 cases in Larkana district.

The confirmed cases of coronavirus in Pakistan have surged past 9,217 after 796 new cases emerged in several areas across the country.

According to the national dashboard, the country has reported 192 deaths. So far, 2,066 people have recovered from coronavirus across the country.

However, the country is still witnessing a consistent rise in COVID-19 cases. Punjab remains the worst affected province from coronavirus with 4,195 infections.

Around 41 new cases were recorded in Punjab in the last 24 hours. A partial lockdown has been imposed across the province to stem the spread of the COVID-19.
