Aziz Mian Qawwal remembered on his 79th birth anniversary

ISLAMABAD: Renowned traditional singer Aziz Mian Qawwal was remembered on his 79th birth anniversary on Saturday.

Different TV channels paid tribute to the late singer. Aziz Mian was born in Delhi on April 17, 1942 and shifted to Pakistan soon after partition.

He acquired his master degrees in Persian, Arabic, language, Persian literature, Urdu literature and history from Punjab University. He was also well-known for singing odes (ghazals) in qawwali style.

The government of Pakistan had awarded him the Pride of Performance award in 1989 for his contributions to music.

With his outstanding ability in music and singing Aziz Mian introduced new style of qawwali which earned him fame national and international level.

He was known for his unplanned expressions while performing live concerts. Aziz Mian died on 6 December 2000 and laid   to rest in Multan.
