ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Planning and Development Asad Umar has said that Prime Minister Imran Khan will be briefed over the future strategy of curbing COVID-19 on Sunday, April 12.
Asad Umar chaired a meeting of National Command and Operation Center to review the coronavirus situation in the country. The meeting noted improvement in recovery ratio of COVID-19 patients as around 727 patients have successfully recovered from the virus.
The meeting was briefed over the coronavirus situation as the members expressed their satisfaction over the measures taken by the health ministry to tackle the spread of the virus.
Umar said the suggested measures will get a nod from the National Coordination Committee (NCC) meeting that will be held on April 13. He also asserted that any decision regarding the extension on the lockdown would be made at the NCC meeting.
He emphasised the need to synergize all efforts through one window operation. He reiterated the government is endeavouring for local production but the focus is on procurement through commercial channels from abroad.
The meeting reviewed the matter of bringing back stranded Pakistanis in Afghanistan and supply of essential food items from Iran to four border districts of Balochistan following strict compliance to instructions issued by the health ministry.
The forum was informed that cargo move to Afghanistan is only for food and medicine items thrice a week as per health guidelines. Special Assistant on National Health Services Dr Zafar Mirza gave a detailed overview of the latest situation of COVID-19 with projections and measures to enhance present testing capacity.
