SUJAWAL: A policeman was killed during a police encounter with criminals in Sujawal district of the Sindh province on Saturday.
According to police sources, a police party conducted a targeted raid at a hideout of absconding prisoners in Shah Bandar, a coastal area of Sujawal.
As soon as the police reached the hideout of the criminals, they opened fire on the police team. During the shootout, a cop sustained severe bullet injuries and died on the spot. A criminal was also killed in the encounter.
The bodies were shifted to a hospital for medico-legal formalities. The authorities have summoned additional police contingent in the area to arrest the culprits.
Earlier, this month, police had claimed to arrest 10 criminals in Karachi. Police said that the criminals were allegedly involved in running an international kidnappers’ gang.
According to police, the 10-member kidnappers’ gang was apprehended from Clifton area of the metropolis, who impersonated themselves as law enforcers and media persons while abducting a couple.
The police had also recovered a fake media vehicle from their possession.
