WHO creates automated WhatsApp number for COVID-19 information

The World Health Organization (WHO) has created an automated WhatsApp account to provide valuable and up-to-date information about the coronavirus.

In this regard, WHO and United Nations Development Program (UNDP) have partnered with WhatsApp company to set up a central messaging platform to provides valuable information.

As per WHO’s instruction, users around the world can have to save the official number (+41 798 931 892) on WhatsApp.

After that, the user will be instructed to type “Hi” and send it across and the automated reply will be generated on the screen.

People around the world can get the latest information about Covid-19 including the updated cases from across the world, guidelines on how to protect oneself, myth busters, travel advice, and news items.

The administrator of the UNDP in a press release said, “Providing simple and reliable information is “a critical piece of the international community’s efforts” to deal with the virus.” 

The administrator further said, “Partnerships with private sector companies like WhatsApp will help get this vital, real-time information from the WHO and local health officials to billions of users around the globe.”

Coronavirus has claimed lives of more than 10,000 people around the people and has spread in almost 170 countries.
