LAHORE: A petition has been filed against the immunity plea of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) president Shehbaz Sharif in the Lahore High Court.
The immunity of Shehbaz Sharif was challenged by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB). The Bureau in its petition requested the LHC to challenge Shehbaz Sharif’s permanent immunity from the trial court.
In this regard, Shehbaz Sharif has been a respondent to the petition. NAB in its plea stated that the two references, Asiana Iqbal Housing, and Ramadan Sugar Mills, were currently being heard against the PML-N president.
The petition further requested the court to order Shahbaz Sharif to appear in the trial.
Shehbaz Sharif is currently staying in London since November last year. He along with his elder brother Nawaz Sharif flew to the UK as his elder brother was granted bail by the LHC on medical grounds. Since then both brothers have not returned back to the country.
Earlier last month, Shehbaz Sharif had announced that he would return back to Pakistan this month but no validated date has yet been confirmed.
