KASUR: Five labourers were killed and nine others were severely injured as the boiler of a factory exploded in Kasur district of Punjab on Saturday.
According to the police sources, a boiler exploded inside the mill due to which the roof of a factory caved. As a result, five workers were killed on the spot, while nine others sustained severe injuries.
Police said the incident took place in the area of Phool Nagar. The boiler explosion claimed lives of five laborers and injured nine others. The injured were rushed to a nearby hospital in critical condition.
The identities of the dead and injured could not be ascertained immediately, according to the initial reports. However, police initiated an investigation into the matter.
Earlier, 11 February, At least four labourers were killed and more than 12 injured as a boiler exploded in a textile factory at Sargodha Road in Faisalabad.
According to rescue sources, the boiler had exploded at a textile factory at Sargodha Road and the roof of the factory caved in due to the explosion. As a result, a 38-year old Liaquat, 37-year old Irfan, 35-year old Muhammad Ibad and 28-year-old Muhammad Razzaq died on the spot.
Receiving information about the incident the police and rescue officials reached the scene retrieved the bodies and the injured. The injured were shifted to DHQ Teaching Hospital Sargodha for treatment, nine injured were said to be in critical condition.
According to the police, the boiler exploded in the factory as several workers were working on the night shift. Police said action will be taken against factory owner after a complete investigation, added police.
