LAHORE: Former finance minister Ishaq Dar has accused the federal government for turning his Lahore residence into a shelter home.
The accountability court earlier order to auction Ishaq Dar’s Gulberg residence and Hajvery House. The order was approved by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB). The action was taken against him in the assets beyond means case.
The houses were initially set for the auction price at Rs180.5 million but failed to find any buyer.
Assistant Commissioner Model Town Lahore, Zeeshan Nasrullah Ranjha had hanged a board of shelter home at the house consists of 12 rooms.
His house was seized in July last year by the district administration. A team, which was headed by the Model Town assistant commissioner, reached the residence to check it and ordered all the people inside to vacate it immediately.
In a video message, Dar said, “Government has violated the decision of the Islamabad High Court (IHC) and I will take them to court for it.”
Dar’s 4 kanal 17 marla residence in the Gulberg area of Lahore was seized on July 27, 2019, on NAB’s orders and was to be auctioned last month.
dar added, “The government raided my residence in Lahore and wanted to auction it in January, but the court on 27th January barred it from doing the action.”
Dar had left Pakistan in 2017 and did not return back. He has been summoned by the accountability court in the same case till 12th February.
Judge Muhammad Bashir conducted the hearing where the former president of National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) Saeed Ahmed filed a plea for his exemption from personal appearance.
