The Karachi Transport Ittehad has announced the end of its 4-day strike in the city, saying that public transport will resume normal operations from tomorrow.
During the strike, Buses, minibuses and coaches stayed off the roads throughout the day, forcing thousands of commuters to seek alternative means of transport to reach their destinations.
The decision came after an important meeting between the Karachi Transport Ittehad and the Commissioner of Karachi regarding the resolution of transport-related issues in the city, Express News reported on Sunday.
According to report, the transporters’ demand for a two-month extension in the biometric verification process during vehicle transfer was accepted during the meeting.
Authorities also assured that the issue of a Rs12,000 payment related to third-party insurance would be addressed.
Various matters were discussed during the meeting, and both sides agreed to hold another review session after 15 days to assess progress on the agreed points.
Report further said that the Karachi Transport Ittehad will soon hold a consultative meeting with its representative bodies to review the government’s assurances and decide on its future course of action.
