LAHORE: The Punjab government has officially resolved to integrate the subjects of patriotism and Marka-e-Haq into the province’s educational curriculum.
Chaired by Punjab Information Minister Uzma Bukhari, pivotal meeting of the Information Steering Committee brought together key officials including Secretary Information Tahir Raza Hamdani, the Additional Secretary of Home, the Deputy Secretary of Finance, and the Director of Law to deliberate on strategies for strengthening national consciousness among the youth.
The committee’s directive extends beyond public schools, mandating that war rights programs and the newly introduced Marka-e-Haq curriculum be implemented across private educational institutions to ensure a unified educational experience.
A significant portion of the meeting was dedicated to cultural initiatives designed to honor the nation’s history and heroes.
It was decided to produce a dramatic series chronicling the life of Shaheed Millat Khan, a title associated with the legacy of Pakistan’s first Prime Minister, Liaquat Ali Khan. Furthermore, the committee approved the allocation of film funds to create cinematic works focusing on the historic struggle for rights and the enduring theme of national unity. These creative projects aim to serve as educational tools that resonate emotionally with students while reinforcing the values of sacrifice and solidarity central to the new curriculum.
To amplify these efforts, the committee launched plans for a large-scale public awareness campaign aimed at promoting national unity across the province. Participants specifically requested the Director General of the Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR) to continue his outreach by visiting educational institutions, fostering a direct connection between the military establishment and the student community. This collaboration is intended to provide students with a deeper understanding of the country’s defense mechanisms and the sacrifices made by its armed forces, aligning perfectly with the objectives of the Marka-e-Haq and patriotism modules.
Addressing the critical issue of social cohesion, Minister Bukhari announced the formation of a joint special monitoring cell by the Information and Home Departments. This unit will be responsible for identifying and taking immediate legal action against individuals spreading hateful content on social media platforms. With the holy month of Muharram approaching, the minister emphasized the urgency of these measures, stating that no provocation or sectarian hatred would be tolerated.
