Another young life was lost to a dumper truck in Karachi when a speeding dumper ran over two motorcyclists near the Super Highway Toll Plaza in the early hours on Thursday.
According to details, a dumper truck hit a motorcycle, killing one young man and injuring another in the Gadap City area near the Super Highway Toll Plaza.
The deceased and the injured were shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital via Edhi ambulance. According to Chhipa spokesperson Shahid Chaudhry, the deceased was identified as 20-year-old Shehbaz, son of Sattar, and the injured as 20-year-old Husnain, son of Yameen.
The deceased was a resident of Korangi No. 4 (So Quarters), the youngest of four brothers, and worked in the production of leather gloves.
Last Sunday, two siblings were killed and their father injured in a road accident involving a dumper on Karachi’s Rashid Minhas Road near Lucky One Mall, sparking mob violence and protests that disrupted traffic on key city routes, officials said.
In recent months, Karachi has witnessed a rise in traffic accidents, especially involving heavy vehicles, including dumpers and water tankers, which killed nearly 500 people and injured 4,879 in 2024, according to hospital data.
