The exhumation of the deceased woman’s body has been completed on court orders in the case of her being killed in the name of honor on the directive of a jirga in Rawalpindi. The woman had married of her own free will, yet a person named Ismatullah ordered her killing.
According to details, under the supervision of area magistrate Qamar Abbas Tarar, the exhumation and postmortem of the body were carried out. The police brought the arrested suspects to the graveyard for the exhumation and had them identify the grave of the deceased woman.
Officials stated that after the exhumation, the forensic team also collected samples from the deceased’s body. The hospital’s medical team was led by Dr. Misbah on this occasion.
The Punjab Forensic Laboratory team was also present during the exhumation. The deceased’s samples will be sent for forensic testing, and the report will reveal how the woman was killed.
According to the police, the order for the woman’s killing was given by the jirga head, Ismatullah, who has been arrested. Ismatullah also led the deceased’s funeral prayer. The woman’s second husband had surrendered himself to the police.
The woman and Usman were married on July 12 in Muzaffarabad; the deceased had also appeared before a judicial magistrate and testified that she married of her own free will. She also stated that her first husband had verbally divorced her.
