The Pakistan Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO) has announced the scheduled launch of the Pakistan Remote Sensing Satellite (PRSS) on July 31, 2025, from China’s Xichang Satellite Launch Center.
This mission represents a major advancement in Pakistan’s space program, aimed at enhancing Earth observation capabilities for national development.
Equipped with advanced imaging systems, the satellite will support applications in agriculture, urban planning, environmental monitoring, and disaster response.
It will play a critical role in assessing and mitigating the impacts of natural disasters such as floods, earthquakes, and glacier melt, while also contributing to infrastructure planning and resource management under initiatives like the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
The upcoming launch builds on a series of achievements in space technology. Since the launch of PakSat-1R in 2011, developed with Chinese cooperation, Pakistan has expanded its space capabilities through satellites such as PRSS-1 (2018), PakTES-1A, and Electro-Optical Satellite EO-1 (January 2025), the country’s first entirely indigenous satellite.
