According to a report published in Daily Jang, Jemima Goldsmith, the mother of PTI founder Imran Khan’s sons, Qasim and Suleman Khan, has called them back from the US to London and has once again barred them from visiting Pakistan to protect them from threats allegedly posed by Imran Khan’s sisters and other relatives.
The PTI leadership in Pakistan is reportedly disheartened by the cold reception given to Qasim and Suleman during their stay in the US, where neither PTI’s US chapter, the US administration, nor the traditional pro-PTI lobby extended any significant attention or support to them.
Within PTI circles in the US, a blame game has erupted, with various groups accusing each other of mishandling the visit and contributing to its failure.
As per the report, highly credible PTI sources have informed Jang that messages were conveyed to Jemima Goldsmith by PTI members familiar with her, warning that Qasim and Suleman may face greater risks from Imran Khan’s sisters than from Pakistani authorities or security agencies. These sources claim that Imran Khan’s sisters have never accepted Jemima as their sister-in-law, nor have they shown affection towards her children.
Sources further revealed that the movement for Imran Khan’s release—which he had instructed to be escalated by August 5—is increasingly unlikely to gain momentum. PTI had pinned high hopes on Qasim and Suleman’s arrival in Pakistan to energize the campaign, but those expectations have now been dashed, leaving party members deeply disappointed.
Statements from PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan and other central leaders reflect their growing distress. There is a pervasive fear within PTI ranks that a large number of their federal and provincial assembly members may be arrested in the coming weeks.
