The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast more rain across the country from Sunday, July 27, till July 31, as monsoon currents continue to affect the region.
According to the PMD, Islamabad, Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan are expected to receive heavy rainfall at isolated places during this period. Sindh is also likely to experience rain accompanied by strong winds and thunderstorms on July 30 and 31.
In Balochistan, heavy rains are predicted from the night of July 29 through July 31. Authorities have warned of potential flooding, river overflows, and landslides in mountainous areas.
The State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA) of Azad Kashmir has issued a high alert, warning of heavy rainfall and gusty winds from July 27 to 31. Districts such as Muzaffarabad, Jhelum Valley, Hattian Bala, Neelum Valley, Rawalakot, Bagh, Haveli, Sidhanoti, Kotli, Bhimber, and Mirpur are expected to face downpours that may lead to river flooding, flash floods, and landslides.
Public and private institutions, as well as tourists, have been advised to stay cautious. SDMA has urged people to secure mud houses, weak structures, signboards, and solar panels, and to avoid visiting riversides and other vulnerable locations.
In Punjab, the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has alerted for the fifth spell of monsoon rains from July 28 to 31. Heavy downpours are expected in major cities, including Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, and Faisalabad, increasing the risk of urban flooding.
The Met Office has also forecast rain for Murree, Galiyat, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Hafizabad, Sialkot, Narowal, Sahiwal, Jhang, Sargodha, Mianwali, Nankana Sahib, Chiniot, Khanewal, Bhakkar, Rajanpur, D.G. Khan, and Bahawalpur.
All concerned departments have been directed to stay vigilant and implement precautionary measures to minimize damage. Citizens are advised to stay informed about weather updates, avoid unnecessary travel in affected areas, and report any emergencies to local authorities promptly.
