Mandala Murders, directed and co-directed by Gopi Puthran and Manan Rawat, is a dark and moody crime thriller that combines elements of ritualistic killings, demon worship, and a mythical cult into a compelling narrative.
Based in the make-believe town of Charan Das Pur, the series follows multiple timelines — post-Independence India, the present, and critical points in between — as two investigators hunt a killer whose offenses become progressively horrific.

Centering the tale is a mystical “baba” (Old man) reputed to make miraculous wishes come true. However, each boon has a horrific price: the supplicant must offer their thumb via a weird gadget that lops it off in exchange for an otherworldly boon — even the reversal of death itself. With every escalating body count, each murder seems to be following a ritualistic routine connected with the secret of the “Mandala,” an old symbol bearing lethal consequences.
Is it based on a true story?
No. Mandala Murders is a work of fiction. It is an original Netflix series created entirely from imagination, blending myth and mystery into a psychological crime drama.
